Visiting Journey of Water

The Journey of Water is an exciting new addition to the Epcot park and is perfect for those wanting something interactive to do with their children. This area was not only unique for its use of the characters and story of Moana through the area, but the way it used those elements to blend an educational message. The message of this area being the literal “journey of water” like you would have learned in your elementary school science class from rivers to rain, but it mixes all that cycle with interactive areas to play with the water.

The first thing I noticed when entering the area was all of the details from the Moana film that were part of the rocks surrounding you. It seems like you could go and have a different visual experience multiple times, similar to viewing the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom, as you could find different little details and characters throughout the experience hiding. I was able to read a few of the different water cycle boards to my daughter and point out a few characters, but at five she was all about the interactive water areas once we could start playing with them.

Honestly, I had an absolute blast with the interactive water areas as much as my daughter! The way the path is made through this section you will go around a corner and there is a new type of interactive water feature. It all starts with water strings of music and ends with an area where you can take all you have seen and try to work as a group with other guests for big water interactions. We were able to see this fully lined up several times and it was amazing to watch happen then see the reactions of all the different kids and adults. You also get to see the amazing Te Fiti topiary and she is stunning! After only seeing the photos she was much bigger than I originally thought and just beautiful.

All in all this area is a must not miss for all Moana fans or not! It is definitely going to be a very crowded place come those Florida summer days because everyone will want to cool off. My advice for those days would be to pack a backup set of clothes so that the kids can play and cool off without worrying about if you need to go change somewhere else and leave the park!
